Last night on The Bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe did something millions of twentysomething women have done before: had sex with someone she's been on a few dates with and likes and is attracted to. For some reason, this was controversial.
But Kaitlyn (and her slam-piece, Nick) took to Twitter during the episode to shut down their slut-shaming critics. Nick in particular really went to bat for Kaitlyn in the sweetest way:
Kaitlyn showed a lot of courage by admitting 2 having sex on national TV knowing that she will be unfairly judged by some.#TheBachelorette
Sex is not shameful. Whether we admit it or not, sex is important part of many serious and meaningful relationships#TheBachelorette

Some people are questioning whether or not he's sincere in his feminism, but hey, even if he isn't, it's better than being a total dick about it. Kaitlyn's pal Amy Schumer also chimed in with her support:

Kaitlyn sent out just one tweet in her defense, but it was a powerful one:
And this morning, she went on Good Morning America to set her shamers straight. "Everybody has their opinions," she said on the show. "It's obviously tough when it gets to be thousands and thousand of messages that are so negative, but I just try to avoid it."
But then she got real: "I always wonder if I had waited 10 days and it was in the Fantasy Suite and I didn't talk about it, would I be getting the same sort of response from people? Probably not."
"Every season it's the same thing!" she went on, "They're like, 'Ah, they're making out with so many people!' It's like, well, that's how you establish if there's a connection or chemistry." #Truth.
